Welcome to the new KLA website!

We're proud to introduce the new Kentucky Library Association website and membership platform. You'll find the latest information about KLA events, sections, and roundtables on this website. Members also have access to additional resources, such as the KLA newsletter IN-FO-CUS and journal Kentucky Libraries, and can search our directory to connect with others in libraries across Kentucky. You can even use this site to quickly renew your membership or join KLA for the first time.

Member Types

Most people join as individual Active members, but there are discounted memberships for those not currently employed in a professional position. We also have two organizational membership options for affiliate groups and vendors.

  • Active: Standard membership
  • Student: Discounted membership for part or full-time students in library-related training
  • Library Support Staff: Discounted membership for anyone working in a support or paraprofessional staff position in a library
  • Trustee: Discounted membership for individuals serving as a library trustee
  • Friends: Discounted membership for non-librarians who wish to support KLA
  • Retired: Discounted membership for retired library professionals.
  • Unemployed: Discounted membership for anyone currently unemployed
  • Affiliates: Organizational membership for vendors, graduate library school faculty members, out-of-state library administrators, regional library network cooperative representatives, other ALA chapter officers, and similar organizations.

KLA membership is valid for 1 year after registration or renewal. Membership fees vary by member type and are outlined fully in The Blue Book's Manual of Policies & Procedures (section 5). Students may also be eligible for an ALA/KLA Joint Membership.
